That is sad about Dewey. I actually heard earlier in the week from my SIL who lives very near Spencer, IA about his demise. But he lived to a ripe old age. More libraries should have cats!
Thanks for the link. I hadn't heard about Dewey before, but he looks so much like my beloved Punkin, gone to Bast at 17 many years ago. Libraries should definitely have cats. And I tried to convince my LYS to get one, but they said customers would object to pre-furred yarn.
Awww. I have read about the Library Cat Society and even got the documentary about it once (through interlibrary loan, of course). Back when I thought I might become the library of our teeny-tiny library I plotted how I might get a library cat (or dog). The library in Wisconsin Dells had a cat for many years. When they moved to their new building a few years ago they could no longer justify its living in the library as a rodent control measure so it went to live elsewhere. Libraries should have cats. Cats and reading go together so well.
