not about knitting

Normally I wouldn't stoop to mention Ann Coulter. But Andrew Sullivan's analysis/respone is so on-target that I'm posting the link: "Faggot"

Great article. Sometimes it seems like some bad things never really change. They just find sneakier ways to persist.

It does feel that way sometimes. But then I take a look at my Mom's attitudes and how they have changed over the course of my lifetime, and I take hope.

That was a very thoughtful, eloquent response. I have seen Andrew Sullivan a few times on Bill Maher and he is always articulate.

I can't make up my mind whether Ann Coulter is a deeply mentally disturbed person or just hateful in the old-fashioned way. In any case, I wish she would go away somewhere.

Kind of like Joe McCarthy... Deeply opportunistic, but the depth of the hatefulness seems like it must have roots that are pathological.

Cindy,
Thanks for sharing that article. I hadn't seen it, and it's very thoughtful and well-written. I am probably the antithesis of a Coulter fan, so her comment didn't come as a surprise to me, but the reactions to it ~ at least some of them ~ have. She, and those who defend her or remain silent about her are simply the visible part of America which spends it's time in search of new lows in civility and decency.

I'm a Canadian & had never heard of Ms. Coulter, she would tie my stomach in knots from the sounds of it. Thankyou for a pointing me to an article which articulates all the reasons I've taught my boys never to taunt someone else.
