It's a bit of a lonesome feeling

to putter around the yard without a little cat following. Our scrappy girl Gato is gone now, too. She'd been slowing down for a long time, experiencing more difficulties in more areas of life. On Friday we came to the hard realization that it was time for us to let go. So now St. Francis has a new spot under the apple tree.

I think this is the first time in 27 years that we haven't had a fur person in the house. I expect we will have one again, probably before too very long. But right now, I miss the blue and white water dish that was always in the kitchen, and seeing someone on the doorstep when I pull in the driveway after work. And even cranky as she sometimes was, I miss the company.

Oh, I'm so sorry. Those furry presences are such a comfort, even if they're sometimes cranky. They have such personalities that, even if a new one comes to live with you, you still miss the old one. Our dog Teddy died two years ago, and although I very much love the dog we adopted a few months later, I still miss that stupid little dog.

  2. Oh, I'm so sad. Hrmph. Bye, Gato. I love knowing that she and Baxter have their resting spots in the yard they loved. Lots of love,

  3. Sorry to hear you are furless right now. We just got a new pup after 9 years without a furry member of the family. He is a joy to us. I hope you find a furry one in the future to bring you joy.

  4. But... you just lost Baxter. I'm so sad for you. Life without furpeople isn't the same. My condolences to you. RIP Gato.

  5. I am so very sorry to read this, Cindy. Loosing Baxter and Gato in such a short time just doesn't seem fair. Although she seemed grumpy I'm sure she loved you and had a wonderful life. Just think, now Baxter has a piece of home in kitty heaven with him.

Love will find you again I'm sure either by chance or by you and your hub going to the shelter. A house without a furbaby is awfully quiet and lonely.

I'm so sorry. Those furpeople wriggle into our hearts. But it won't be long before you have another (or two).

  8. It's such an odd feeling, having a house with no cats in it. I'm really sorry to hear about Gato. Even grumpy cats are much loved.
